Growing old is unavoidable

THE destructive effects of the passage of years are observable in one’s own body. As the years go by, the body, the most precious possession a human being has, goes through an irreversible process of destruction. The changes a human being experiences throughout his life are recounted in the Qur’an as follows: “It is Allah Who created you in a state of (helpless) weakness, then gave (you) strength after weakness, then, after strength, gave (you) weakness and a hoary head: He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power.” (Qur’an, 30:54)

The later years of life are the times most neglected in the future plans of an adult, except in the anxious process of saving for old-age pensions. Indeed, being too close to death, people usually develop a hesitant approach to this period. When someone tries to talk about old age, others feel concerned and attempt to change this “unpleasant” topic as soon as possible. The routine of daily life is also a good way of escaping from the thought of these potentially miserable years of life. So, it is postponed until the day one inevitably meets it. No doubt, the main reason for such avoidance is the assumption that one has endless time until death comes upon one.

This mistaken idea often leads to great grief. That is simply because, no matter how old one is, the only real possessions remaining from one’s past are dimly-recalled memories. One barely remembers childhood. It is even hard to recall exactly what happened during the last decade. The greatest ambitions of a young man, important decisions, and the goals to which he is most committed, all lose their significance once they are experienced and done. That is why to tell a “long” life story is a vain endeavor.

Whether a teenager or an adult, this should prompt man to make an important decision about his life. For instance, if you are 40 and expect to live until your mid-sixties — and of that you have no guarantee — those remaining 25 years will surely pass as quickly as the preceding 40 years. The same holds true even if your life is prolonged a great deal, since the remaining thirty or forty years will, likewise, pass before you even notice. This is, surely, a perpetual reminder of the true nature of this world. One day every living soul on this earth will leave this world and there is no return.

Hence, man should set aside his prejudices and be more realistic about his life. Time passes very quickly and each day brings on further physical weakness and more impaired thinking rather than fresher dynamism and a younger figure. In brief, growing old is a manifestation of man’s inability to control his own body, life and destiny. Time’s adverse effects on the body become visible during this period. Allah informs us about this in the following verse: “It is Allah Who creates you and takes your souls at death; and of you there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know nothing after having known (much); for Allah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.” (Qur’an, 16:70)

In medicine, advanced old age is also called “the second childhood”. Hence, during this latter stage of life, elderly people just like children need care, since their bodily and mental functions go through certain alterations.

As one grows older, physical and spiritual characteristics pertaining to childhood become more apparent. Elderly people fail to do many tasks requiring physical strength. Changes in judgment, impaired thinking, difficulties in walking, maintaining balance and speech, impediments, memory impairment and gradual memory loss, and changes in mood or behavior are only a few symptoms of diseases commonly seen in old age.

In short, after a certain period, people often regress to a state of childish dependency both physically and mentally. Life both begins and ends in an infant-like state. This is evidently not a random process. It is possible that man could remain young until he dies. Yet Allah reminds man about the temporary nature of this world by making the quality of his life deteriorate at certain stages of life. This process serves as a clear reminder that life is slipping away.

Allah explains this matter in the verse below: “O mankind! If you have doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of a drop, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (Our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that you may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), you see the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour rain down on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).” (Qur’an, 22:5)

Growing old is unavoidable. Nobody, without exception, can escape it. Yet seeing celebrities becoming older has a deeper influence on us since their physical deterioration is openly observable. Witnessing the ageing of people renowned for their fame, wealth and beauty is surely a reminder of the shortness and insignificance of this life.

Every day it is possible to observe this fact from hundreds of examples around us. An intelligent, healthy and famous person, once a symbol of beauty or success, one day appears in newspapers, magazines and on television with a physical or mental disability. Each one is the clearest evidence that no matter how beautiful, successful or young you are, the inevitable end for human beings is old age.

Yet, only the body experiences this irreversible process and eventually dies. The soul, on the other hand, lives forever. The only asset one can take with him when one dies is one’s belief or disbelief.

The way to avoid eternal punishment, win eternal bliss and attain the good pleasure of Allah is apparent: Before it is too late, have true faith in Allah and spend your life doing good deeds to attain His good pleasure.

What will be the greatest blessing in paradise?

From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s A9 TV interview on April 06th, 2015

Abu David narrates: ‘Because people of paradise go to paradise and the people of hell to hell, one caller will ask out: ‘Didn't God make our faces bright and clear? Didn't He make our scales heavy so that we wouldn't go to hell?’ At that moment, the curtain will be opened and they will look at God. I swear in the name of God, that God hasn't given anything to them that is more pleasing and delightful than looking at God.’ They will see God’s manifestation and that will be the thing they love the most.
One narrative from Abu Musa al-Ashari is as follows: ‘He, said during the Basra speech: ‘God had the residents of Paradise asked: ‘Did God keep His promises to you? They looked at their ornaments, ’ What are the ornaments? Necklaces, bracelets, everything. ‘clothes,’ Why aren’t they surprised about the clothes? They are surprised that there will be yachts, but not surprised at the clothes. Clothes are also produced in factories. The clothes in Paradise will be like the ones in the world. It will not be very different. But they will be similar. But the fabric quality will be different. It won’t crease; it will be very bright, very beautiful colored. But in general sense, it will be similar to the clothing items in this world. ‘Fruits, beautiful wives’, the ladies, ‘and the rivers’. But the rivers will not be little. We are sitting above a strait here, right. It is a sea, but [looks like] a river. Where are we now?  We are situated above. God explains that in Paradise ‘they will be in high mansions, with rivers flowing underneath them’. Big, sea like rivers. But calm, beautiful and pleasing. ‘Then they will say: God certainly kept His promise to us’. Angel will ask them three times, ‘Did God keep your promise to you?. And when they see that, the promise was fulfilled completely, they will say ‘yes’
Abdullah ibn Masud narrates: ‘We were with the Messenger of God (pbuh). During the Night of Qadr, he looked at the moon and said: ‘You will see your Lord clearly just like you see the moon now and you will have no doubts in seeing Him.’ He says ‘You will see God’. ‘You will not have to push each other to catch a glimpse, you will see Him very easily.’ You will see His manifestation very easily. “When Almighty God allows His manifestation to be visible by lifting the veil in front of His servants’ eyes, all the rivers will flow with more joy and zeal, the trees will sway and make sounds.’ The trees will dance with joy. All of them are conscious. “All the mansions will light up with flames.” Everything will light up, everything will sort of come to life, get excited. “The fountains will flow faster”, to emphasize the joy. “Sweet smells will be carried across the mansions and the courtyards”. When God’s manifestation is seen. “Sweet smelling misk and kafoor will be everywhere. Birds will chirp’, the birds of Heaven. ‘Houris will radiate with their beauty.’ When God’s manifestation is seen, in the Hereafter.

Almighty God says ‘In Paradise I will create everything your hearts desire.’

Pleasant Conversations with Mr. Adnan Oktar (April 6th, 2015; 24:00)
... And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally. [Surat Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold) 43:71]
ADNAN OKTAR: God says ‘Anything you want’ and some people cannot understand it. Whatever your culture, your tastes, your knowledge would entail. For instance, some like car races, others yacht races, some like swimming, some like spending time with women, some painting. For example, if you want to paint pictures, you’ll be able to do it perfectly there, and very quickly. Some like to play instruments, and they’ll do it flawlessly. There will be no need for training or practicing.
Many people ask these questions one by one, for example ‘Are there computers in Paradise?’ If you like that [computers], based on your culture, your knowledge, it will be created there immediately, on the spot, and in the most perfect way. It’s only a matter of you wanting it or not. Whatever you want, it will be created in the most perfect manner. For instance, you might be liking little cars, and there it will be created like that. Or you might be favoring big muscle cars, and you will have that. God says that ‘It all depends on what you want’. ‘Depends on you thinking about it, your culture, your desires, whatever you like.’
BÜLENT SEZGİN: The degree of taking pleasure in Paradise, does it depend on the degree of faith, Mr. Adnan?
ADNAN OKTAR: Of course. Everyone will enjoy depending on his or her degree of faith.
ADNAN OKTAR: Some people don't understand it, although we explain it. Almighty God says ‘I will create everything your hearts desire.’  They want me to list one by one. For example, we have air conditioners in this world. If you like it, it will be created in Paradise. It depends on your culture, on your wanting it. Whatever you like, it will be created. For example if you like double-breasted jackets, it will be created. If another person rather has another type of suit, he will be given that. They want all the gifts to be enumerated one by one. Musical instruments, whatever you want. They ask ‘Will there be guitars, too?’ Of course, and that’s the most primitive one (guitars in this world).  A clarinet, another very primitive instrument. God creates the most perfect one and God says ‘It depends on your wishes and liking’.
I seek refugee in God from the accursed Satan. “and they will have there all that their hearts desire and their eyes find delight in. You will remain in it timelessly, for ever.” (Surat at-Zukhruf, 71). Is there any restriction in this verse? Infinite. Very clear. What does “there is everything” mean? It means there is no limit to it. Anything you can picture and “you will remain in it timelessly, forever”, until forever. (Surat at-Zukhruf, 71)

Believers do not experience any fear or difficulty after they die

Adnan Oktar’s A9 TV interview dated 21 June 2015
ADNAN OKTAR: There are people who buy graves. They say, “Let’s be together as a family. The view should be nice. He would get bored in the grave”. “It should be with sea view,” they say. That person becomes soil in the grave. There is nothing left. He will not be alive there. They don’t believe in it. They think the dead is still there. They think if the grave is ostentatious, he would be comfortable, a fancy place made of marble. Also they say “let’s be together as a family, let’s not be apart”. They think if they are together, they will rise comfortable in the Day of Judgment. They think if they are not together, they will not be able to find each other. The world will be destroyed in the Judgment Day. There won’t be any graves left. They don’t understand. It will be flat. The world will be destroyed and the moon and the sun will join. God states in the verse "the mountains become like shifting dunes". Would there be a grave there? The Qur’an says "the oceans surge into each other" Everything will be crashed, graveyards; everything will be in the air. Nothing will stay. Everyplace will melt down, soil and so. The ground will be flattened, just flat. So, there won’t be graves there, marble graves, nothing like that. They think their graves will stay and they will rise as a family. It will not be like that; they should understand it from the Qur’an.
Our fellow brothers who are into this family grave concept get it wrong. If they feel good about it, okay it is something else. When the Judgment Day comes, the world will be demolished into the ground. Do they not understand it? It is stated in the verse “the mountains become like shifting dunes ". It is the Judgment Day. Everything will be flattened. There will not be trees, flowers, insects, nothing. Stones will melt. The world will be scattered like dust. The sun and the moon will join. And you are talking about marble graves “we will be there as a family”. It is not like that. God states He will raise people up from where they lay. We don’t know how this will happen. I mean probably all humanity will rise instantly. They will realize they had been lying after they rise, that they had been in lying position. He looks he is lying. He rises, straightens up, that is it. It is a vast land. The situation of believers is different. Believers will be in a vehicle. They will have light in front of them and beside them. They will have a host with them. He will be complimenting them, showing them love. The crowd will be running towards a certain point all together. They will see something like a pillar. They will hear a voice from it; a human voice. It is named “Summoner” in the verse. It is a human voice. It is like the summoner is telling “come here all”. Everybody is flooding towards it. How many are they? Let’s say ten billion. It is a very vast land, they are running on a vast land. God states “"like swarming locusts ". Hell will be cluttered up with these people. God makes them get down on their knees, taking them into hell. Believers will be separated. Believers will not be involved in such situations. They will not experience any terror unbelievers will experience. Yet, God informs unbelievers what will happen beforehand, so they would regret. Believers will be witnessing all these from afar. Believers will be experiencing all great things. There will not be any hardship, suffering or fear at all at any stage for them. Everything will run smoothly for them; when they die, when they arise from dead, when they are taken into paradise. In other words, they will not experience any uneasiness. "They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow" says God. God promises, it is clear.
ENDER DABAN: You had told us before teacher, believers are questioned in a very nice manner.
ADNAN OKTAR: It will be as a compliment, to please them. For example, God says “you communicated the message all through your life, is that true?” he answers “Yes, my God”. What is it for? God does it to please him. For example, God says “you spent all your possessions in the way of God, is that correct?” and he replies “yes”. The questioning will take only a short time anyway. Angels will be showing believers love incredibly. They will be taken with a joy, with a great delight. Once they enter the gates of paradise, that is it, it is then forever.
OKTAR BABUNA: You said “One who is questioned last thinks he is the first.”
ADNAN OKTAR: Yes. All people in the world will be questioned. A believer, for example, let’s assume he will be questioned last, he thinks he has been questioned first. It is stated, “he will return to his family joyfully”. Then others ask him “what were you asked?” and he replies, “I was asked this and that”, all pleasant things, the questioning is for his pleasure. There will not be anything that would bother him. So a Muslim doesn’t need to brood over what will happen”. But he should fear hell, it is another matter, however, he doesn’t need to fear “what troubles am I going to get through as a Muslim?” It is not the case. If you think that way, you would commit a sin. For a Muslim, it is not possible whatsoever. He will be very comfortable everywhere, everything will flow very smoothly. It is nothing like that.
GÖKALP BARLAN: God states, “We will erase their bad actions from them, and recompense them for the best of what they did.”
ADNAN OKTAR: Of course, but one should concentrate on paradise very well. It should be comprehended very well. The faith needs to be strengthened. He needs to absorb it in his head. These are important. I mean, one should not think paradise as a blurred concept.  A Muslim needs to know everything that is told in the Qur’an about paradise.

When death is not the end

A Palestinian man visiting graves of relatives during Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Nablus. Death is an inescapable fact. Living in the knowledge of that fact bestows the most agreeable attributes upon a person. AP pic
SOME sayings work for millions of people in the world, no matter what language they are spoken in. Carpe diem is definitely one of these. But how correctly is this saying by Horace perceived today?

Carpe diem, in fact, means that one should be aware that death can come at any moment and, therefore, you should value each and every second. What the famous poet meant when he said, “In the moment of our talking, envious time has ebb’d away. Seize the present; trust tomorrow e’en as little as you may”, was that the life of this world is very brief, and that sooner or later, we will return to the earth.

Yet today, this concept is regarded as encouraging a philosophy of hedonism and meaning “live for today, have fun, and forget about tomorrow”.

As one can see from their lifestyles, speech and behaviour, a great many people today really choose to live as if they were not going to die and elect to make maximum use of the benefits of this world; indeed, death is what these people care to think about least.

Never mind thinking about death, they do not care even to remember it. When a friend or someone they know dies, they are utterly devastated. Facing the fact that they, too, will one day die literally makes them sick, inflicts upon them a psychological breakdown and makes them unable to take any pleasure from anything.

The reason why they are so afraid of death is that they regard it as the end and imagine they will cease to be after they die. They, therefore, seek a solution in living as if they will never die.

But the true face of the life of this world is always at their heels and makes its presence felt at every moment, despite their wishes. Although they wish never to grow old or sick, and to remain forever young and healthy, their youth departs in a few brief decades, and they become afflicted by sickness.

Even the most perfect and healthy-looking person inevitably grows old and dies. Thousands of deaths take place every day. The roads are filled with cemeteries. The people buried just a metre or two apart once ate in restaurants, watched television, went to the movies, took photos with their loved ones on their travels and made plans for the future, but these things lost any significance when they died.

The surprising thing is that those left behind are themselves keenly aware of all this but their devotion to this world never decreases, and they continue chasing after the things of this world even though they are, step by step, day by day, drawing closer to death.

Yet, death is one of the greatest realities of all. It is foolish to disregard that reality and forget that life is brief and death can come at any time. Death may come when you never expect, and everything that one has acquired in this world, property, possessions and rank, will be left behind.

Nobody will be able to take his wealth, rank, prestige or anything else into the hereafter. A person enters the grave with his body, clad only in a shroud, and even that soon begins to decay.

In short, death is an inescapable fact. Living in the knowledge of that fact bestows the most agreeable attributes upon a person.

One has a clear and sharp mind: Someone who knows that everything and everyone in this world is finite, and that death can come at any moment, first and foremost has a high level of awareness. He begins purging himself of the transitory desires of this world and of feelings of the lower self. He begins to realise his own weakness. Someone who grasps his own weakness becomes more virtuous, more tolerant, more forgiving and more conciliatory.

He becomes more loving, compassionate and affectionate. He becomes altruistic and humane and thinks of others’ comfort rather than his own. Most importantly, he begins seeking the purpose of life and becomes aware of the extraordinary order that pervades the universe.

On the other hand, he sees the blessings he possesses and realises that it is God Who bestows them all. As he comes to know God, he begins to realise that life is not only the brief span allotted here; he comes to recognise that God, Who created this world, will also create an eternal life after death, and that this eternal life will start after death.

As we have seen, reflecting on death leads on to the true path. It enables a person to be someone who believes in God and knows that he has a soul, who knows that his purpose in this world is to serve God, that he has been sent into this world to be tested and that after that test he will have to account for himself in the hereafter.

For such a person, death is not something to be feared, but a means to come to our Lord, Who we love above all else and to Whom we are devoted with fervour and passion, and a doorway to eternity. Death is not the end, but rather the beginning of the real, eternal life.

Looking at this life from grave?

Looking at this life from grave?

Life flies by in the blink of an eye. One moment you are in your 20s, the next you are in your 40s; then you are at death’s door. While life flies by so fast, death comes when a person is not expecting it and leaves that person all alone, having left behind all his friends and everyone he knew behind. That person may be the richest man in the world, a famous star or a scientist known all over the planet; all his real estate and palaces will never alter that reality. On the day of one’s death, one meets the angels that will take away one’s soul in a full state of submission to them, while the body is placed into the grave prepared for it to rot.

The life that passes with great bustle over the course of 60 or 70 years eventually comes to an end in the grave. Let us imagine for one moment that such a person looks at the life of this world from his grave. What will he see? He will see that other people are now living in that home he valued so much, every corner of which he furnished and decorated.

Pictures of other people adorn the living room. Other people are using his car or the jewelry that he loved so much once. His other possessions have been given away, and almost nothing that once belonged to him remains.

Other people are working hard in the business he founded with such effort and spent long hours in every day. He wants to tell them that death is imminent and of the transitory nature of the life of this world, but not a word leaves his lips. He merely watches the life of this world from another dimension. The people in that workplace are all laughing together, holding meetings, eating with friends or striving hard to make money. While people in this world are so distracted, people in the grave know that it is all insignificant and temporary. A person will not be able to take even so much as a handkerchief to the other side. You may amass a vast amount of money in this world, and have gold in banks and shares on the Stock Exchange yet these things are all meaningless: One cannot take a thing from this world into the hereafter.

That same person then looks at his family, children and friends in this world from the grave. He sees that some are on the brink of death, some have grown old and are fighting diseases, while others have long since joined him in the grave. The life they spent together has passed. The days when they ate and talked and worked together are over. But he looks around and can see none of them with him. The only One he sees as he lies all alone in the grave is Allah:

“You have come to Us all alone just as We created you at first, leaving behind you everything We bestowed on you. We do not see your intercessors accompanying you, those you claimed were your partners with Allah. The link between you is cut. Those you made such claims for have forsaken you.” (Surat Al-An’am, 94)

If the person looking from the grave at the life of this world did not believe during his life, if he did not turn to our Lord, his Creator, and if he rejected worship and followed satan instead, he will be in a state of the most terrible regret. All his pride and arrogance in this world have given way to utter helplessness, weakness and wretchedness. That body he so valued has lost all its beauty, and is now old and squeezed into a cramped grave. All that trouble for the sake of amassing possessions in this world, all the efforts to please other people for that purpose, all the concessions and all the rewards are in vain. There is not a single thing in his hands any more. The reward for those pointless endeavors is the eternal life of hell:

“Abandon those who have turned their religion into a game and a diversion and who have been deluded by the life of this world. Remind by it lest a person is delivered up to destruction for what he has earned with no protector or intercessor besides Allah. Were he to offer every kind of compensation, it would not be accepted from him. Such people are delivered up to destruction for what they have earned. They will have scalding water to drink and a painful punishment because they were disbelievers.” (Surat Al-An’am, 70)

Will not the person looking at the life of this world from the grave say, “My Lord, I have been a fool to become caught up in this world. How could I have sought fun and entertainment, without ever thinking, or seeing the blessings You created and giving thanks for them? I never once felt curious about the Qur’an You sent and opened it up; I turned away from the thousands of verses You sent for me. But now I look and see that the world I valued so much and all the friends who used to help me with everything are all gone. My children, spouse and brothers and sisters are not here. You My Lord is the only One that is here with me. This distracting and fun-filled world eventually ends in eternal paradise or hell. But I failed to see. Only now do I realize that real life only begins in the hereafter.”

And that denier will go on to say, “I cannot describe the terrible regret I am feeling now. Send me back, O Lord. Let me one of the pure, one of Your servants with whom You are well pleased.”

A believer who spent his entire life in faith will also look at the life of this world from the grave. But a gloriously beautiful paradise full of countless blessings has been prepared for him. In paradise he will find the finest examples of all that he spent and used on Allah’s path. If his wife and family and friends were also believers, he and they will sit on thrones and laugh and they shall enjoy themselves together. He spent all his life seeking Allah’s approval and has finally attained eternity in the gardens of Eden. Believers encounter delights they had never expected in paradise and are smothered in blessings, while unbelievers are deprived of even a single drop of water. So the end result of a life spent in faith and good conscience is paradise, while the end result of a life spent in unbelief and foolishness is hell. Let nobody become aware of this fact only when they reach the grave and pass through that gate from which there is no return.

“Those whose scales are heavy, they are the successful. Those whose scales are light, they are the losers of their selves, remaining in hell timelessly, for ever.” (Surat Al-Muminun, 102-103)

Hereafter would be a complete surprise for Muslims

New Statements by Mr. Adnan Oktar (12 April 2014)

Almighty God gives us some details about the Hereafter but He prepared the Hereafter in a way that would be a complete surprise for Muslims.
God says, “Every self will come together with a driver and a witness.” [Surah Qaf; 21]   Clearly there is a vehicle; it might be a small vehicle or a big beautiful vehicle and there are hosts on both sides of Muslims and there is a light for them both in front of them and beside them. God knows the truth this is a kind of vehicle; that is because God mentions a vehicle that operates on its own in the Qur’an. There is a vehicle that goes on its own, there are hosts inside that vehicle and there are headlights that enlightens the darkness and it moves forward. God says that they will come with those vehicles. Muslims definitely go to Heaven if they find themselves in such a condition. In the Qur’an, God says that they strongly hope for the Heaven. We might come across vehicles similar to those we have in this world or more advanced ones. We might find ultra-modern cities there; that is because God shows that to us, God shows them fruits and they say, “We’ve seen similar ones before.” That is the same with the houses of Heaven; we would say that we’ve seen similar ones before but the quality will be incomparable. There is an amazing trial going on in this world.

The Polytheists’ Conception of Mourning

The Polytheists’ Conception of Mourning

Mourning for days, refusing to smile and removing all sources of joy from life is a custom that belongs to the society of ignorance. For Muslims, death means the end of the test in this world, the passage to our eternal abode and, most important of all, meeting with our beloved Lord. Muslims do not, therefore, mourn when someone dies. On the contrary, they rejoice that someone they love has gone to God and say, “Insha’Allah, our Lord has been pleased with him.” Mourning is a superstitious custom among people who fail to grasp the wisdom of destiny, who do not submit willingly to it, who cannot see the beauty in God’s creation and who do not realize that this world is indeed a transitory place.
Therefore, when someone dies, Muslims advise one another not to mourn. They advise one another not to grieve or  be sad or unhappy. When death comes, Muslims advise one another to welcome what God has ordained in destiny with joy and fortitude because grieving, may God forbid, means not being content with the destiny appointed by Him. It means rebellion against what God has created, may He forbid.
Some people who say, “How can you be having fun while people are dying in Syria, Palestine and Egypt” forget this fact. What a Muslim must do in the face of the losses and sufferings in Syria, Egypt and Palestine is not to grieve, but rather strive to bring those sufferings to an end. The people who express that idea themselves have fun at weddings, laugh at TV chat shows and enjoy watching films, despite all the pain in the world.
Death is not the end for a believer: It means joining God, our One True Friend and Beloved. The believer treats the death of someone he loves with the same joy that he welcomes his own death. The idea that one must be saddened in the face of death is one that belongs to the society of ignorance. Such people are unable to properly appreciate the power and might of God; they grieve since they think that death is the end.
That is why there are many superstitious traditions of mourning in societies and especially in formerly pagan cultures. For example, when someone died in ancient Egypt women in the house of the deceased would rub mud over their heads and faces and beat their bare breasts after tying their clothes to their bodies with thread. Similar customs were found among the Assyrians, Persians, Greeks and Romans. Judaic mourning customs included tearing the clothes, wearing coarse cloth, sitting on the floor, rubbing ashes on the head, fasting, tearing out the hair and weeping and beating oneselfIn some cultures, professional mourners would be hired to weep and lament, and this would go on for several days.
The pagans of Mecca are known to have mourned in a similar way when someone died. Our Prophet (saas) forbade Muslims to mourn:
Ibnu Abbas relates: "The Messenger of God (saas) said: MOURNING IS A DOING FROM THE SOCIETY OF IGNORANCE...."
Ibnu Umar relates: "THE MESSENGER OF GOD (saas) FORBADE A WOMAN WHO WAS WEEPING LOUDLY TO FOLLOW THE DECEASED."
Cerir Mevla Muaviye relates: "Hazrat Muaviye preached a sermon in Homs and reminded the congregation that the Messenger of God had forbidden mourning."
The way that Rasulullah (saas) wept for a brief moment when his son Ibrahim died is a sign of his affection and compassion. Those people who misinterpret our Prophet’s (saas) fine moral virtue and wish to maintain the pagan customs of the Time of Ignorance are thus behaving  wrongly.
We have created all things in due measure. (Surat al-Qamar, 49)
Say: ‘Nothing can happen to us except what God has ordained for us. He is Our Master. It is in God that the Muslims should put their trust.’ (Surat al-Tawba, 51)
But you will not will unless God wills. God is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (Surat al-Insan, 30)
No leaf falls without His knowing it. There is no seed in the darkness of the earth, and nothing moist or dry which is not in a Clear Book.  (Surat al-An'am, 59)
No misfortune occurs except by God’s permission. Whoever has faith in God – He will guide his heart.     God has knowledge of all things. (Surat at-Taghabun, 11)

Remarks on verses from Surat al-Ma’ida

Remarks on verses from Surat al-Ma’ida (13.11.2013)

Remarks on verses from Surat al-Ma’ida

From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s interview on A9 TV 13 November 2013

ADNAN OKTAR: Surat al-Ma’ida, verse 114; “‘Jesus son of Maryam said, ‘God, our Lord, send down a table to us out of heaven to be a feast for us, for the first and last of us, and as a Sign from You’.” Look, “for the first and last of us, and as a Sign from You.” As a miracle. “Provide for us! You are the Best of Providers!” All food is actually created as a miracle, but the need for free will is not done away with in the hereafter. And the need for free will is not done away with here, either. That table came down, and the believers ate at it. When they entered the room, they found a table all ready for them. They found a table sent down from the Presence of God. If a table comes down from the sky, so will angels and human beings. In other words, Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) will also come down. That sign appears in order to show how reasonable the coming of Jesus the Messiah is. He says, “Send down a table.” If a table comes down, so can a person, insha’Allah. “God said, ‘I will send it down to you but if anyone among you is unbeliever after that, I will punish him with a punishment the like of which I will not inflict on anyone else in all the worlds’!”

“I will send it down to you.” So the table has come down. The meaning of the verse is explicit. It came down as a miracle. “but if anyone among you is unbeliever after that, I will punish him with a punishment the like of which I will not inflict on anyone else in all the worlds’!” Who was unbeliever? Judas Iscariot. He betrayed Jesus the Messiah. So Almighty God will inflict a terrible punishment on him, as the verse says. “And when God says, ‘Jesus son of Maryam! Did you say to people, “Take me and my mother as gods besides God?”  In other words, did you tell people of belief in the Trinity? Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) says, “Glory be to You,” to Almighty God. “It is not for me to say what I have no right to say!” This is not something a Muslim could say, he means. He says he would never do that. “If I had said it, then You would have known it.” This would be known, it would be known in destiny. “You know what is in my self but I do not know what is in Your Self.”  In other words, he is saying, “O Lord, you are asking me even though You already know.” You are the Knower of all unseen things.” He is emphasizing the might and power of God. “You are the Knower of all unseen things,” says Jesus the Messiah (pbuh). “I said to them nothing but what You ordered me to say: ‘Worship God, my Lord and your Lord’.” The Gospel says the same thing. Look; “Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.” I was a witness against them as long as I remained among them, but when You took me back to You, You were the One watching over them. You are Witness of all things.” In other words, when you took me into Your Presence, You were the witness, the observer. “If You punish them, they are Your servants. If you forgive them, You are the Almighty, the All-Wise.” He is stressing the forgiving aspect of Almighty God. The verse is hinting that they will be forgiven, insha’Allah. When they see the truth and renounce their earlier ways they will be forgiven. “God will say, ‘This is the Day when the sincerity of the sincere will benefit them’.” What comes from their telling the truth? It benefits them. They attain God’s approval, a lightness descends on them and their paradise is broadened. “They will have Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever.” Look, were it not for the seas, the adornment of Istanbul, that adornment would largely vanish. Much of its natural beauty would be lost, in other words. That is why Almighty God says, “They will have Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever.” What is it that Muslims strive for? For God’s approval. What does God say? “God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him.” What does that mean? They are pleased with one another.  “The kingdom of the heavens and the earth and everything in them belongs to God. He has power over all things.”

Nobody can stand up and say these things are his. According to the Qur’an, people can only be temporarily entrusted with things. “He has power over all things.” It is God Who grants the ability to speak and walk.

The feeling of boredom is removed in the Hereafter

Adnan Oktar Says

A9 TV; July 18th, 2013

  • The feeling of boredom is removed in the Hereafter. There is no such thing, no such feeling in the Hereafter. Muslims see the blessings of the Heaven for quadrillions of times but never get bored.
  • There is a tendency to boredom in the human nature, in the human soul in proportion with that person's faith. However a Muslim would not be bored, would not feel weary of love, a Muslim would not feel weary of beauty and affection insha'Allah. For instance Muslims get bored from empty talks, from monotonic approaches. They search richness, I mean they want novelties, they want beauties.
  • One can never be bored of love or affection; one can never be tired of the love of God. However the feeling of weariness, boredom exists in the human soul. Muslims are able to overcome this feeling with their faith. For that reason an ordinary man gets tired of his wife, from his beloved ones but a Muslim would not because of their faith. However in disbelief, weariness enwraps a person very easily. With the power of faith weariness is crashed. It can be crashed in proportion to that person's faith.
  • One should approach God by praising, by giving glory to God. We should increase our thanks to God. When that is increased, the blessings bestowed upon one would increase as well. How does that work? God does that without making it felt. The more you send your thanks to God; the more the blessings bestowed upon you increases. All increase from aspects you do not know of, from aspects you cannot even think of.
  • "Alhamdulillah" is one of the invocations God likes the most. For instance you have been bestowed a blessing and you say Alhamdulillah. There is a beauty in front of you; you say Alhamdulillah. You hear a nice word you say Alhamdulillah.
