God grants believers' every sincere wish

ADNAN OKTAR: I am speaking for myself when I say God granted me everything I wished from Him. In the Qur'an, God says, "Call on Me and I will answer you." This is true, it happens. This is truly astonishing. But most people do not anticipate the fact that there is such a system in place; they believe it would happen very quickly. For example, when people ask God, "O Lord, grant me wealth and prosperity, and I will spend them in Your name." When that is the case, God definitely grants them their wishes, making them unimaginably wealthy. But there is a detail here that should not be overlooked; God grants them their wishes and bestow wealth and prosperity upon them if they are sincere when they say, "O Lord, I will spend my wealth in Your name." If they attempt to spend the wealth God has granted them for their own pleasure, God takes away their wealth by making them spend it on myriad troubles He plagues them with.

Of course, one should not wish unreasonable things from God. He grants every request that is within reason. I cannot think of instances where I made a reasonable request to God and He left my wish unanswered; He grants every reasonable wish. Christians place utmost importance on prayer as they are well-aware of this system for quite a long time.  Among the believers, Christians are the ones who are most aware of this system. Evangelists, in particular, are quite aware of it. Protestants consider prayer vital, hence they pray day and night. And they are right to do so. For some Muslims, prayer is usually a formality and sometimes it is accepted and sometimes not. This is a misconception; every sincere wish is granted. This is not true. Every prayer comes true if it is in the name of God. If you sincerely ask for the reign of Islam to be established, it comes true as well. God says in the Torah; "I will establish the reign of Islam over the world even if only 11 people believes," 11 people. But it has to be a deeply sincere and heartfelt wish. When that is the case, God even establishes the reign of Islam for the sake of a handful of sincere believers.

What will be the greatest blessing in paradise?

Abu David narrates: ‘Because people of paradise go to paradise and the people of hell to hell, one caller will ask out: ‘Didn't God make our faces bright and clear? Didn't He make our scales heavy so that we wouldn't go to hell?’ At that moment, the curtain will be opened and they will look at God. I swear in the name of God, that God hasn't given anything to them that is more pleasing and delightful than looking at God.’ They will see God’s manifestation and that will be the thing they love the most.

One narrative from Abu Musa al-Ashari is as follows: ‘He, said during the Basra speech: ‘God had the residents of Paradise asked: ‘Did God keep His promises to you? They looked at their ornaments, ’ What are the ornaments? Necklaces, bracelets, everything. ‘clothes,’ Why aren’t they surprised about the clothes? They are surprised that there will be yachts, but not surprised at the clothes. Clothes are also produced in factories. The clothes in Paradise will be like the ones in the world. It will not be very different. But they will be similar. But the fabric quality will be different. It won’t crease; it will be very bright, very beautiful colored. But in general sense, it will be similar to the clothing items in this world. ‘Fruits, beautiful wives’, the ladies, ‘and the rivers’. But the rivers will not be little. We are sitting above a strait here, right. It is a sea, but [looks like] a river. Where are we now?  We are situated above. God explains that in Paradise ‘they will be in high mansions, with rivers flowing underneath them’. Big, sea like rivers. But calm, beautiful and pleasing. ‘Then they will say: God certainly kept His promise to us’. Angel will ask them three times, ‘Did God keep your promise to you?. And when they see that, the promise was fulfilled completely, they will say ‘yes’. 

Abdullah ibn Masud narrates: ‘We were with the Messenger of God (pbuh). During the Night of Qadr, he looked at the moon and said: ‘You will see your Lord clearly just like you see the moon now and you will have no doubts in seeing Him.’ He says ‘You will see God’. ‘You will not have to push each other to catch a glimpse, you will see Him very easily.’ You will see His manifestation very easily. “When Almighty God allows His manifestation to be visible by lifting the veil in front of His servants’ eyes, all the rivers will flow with more joy and zeal, the trees will sway and make sounds.’ The trees will dance with joy. All of them are conscious. “All the mansions will light up with flames.” Everything will light up, everything will sort of come to life, get excited. “The fountains will flow faster”, to emphasize the joy. “Sweet smells will be carried across the mansions and the courtyards”. When God’s manifestation is seen. “Sweet smelling misk and kafoor will be everywhere. Birds will chirp’, the birds of Heaven. ‘Houris will radiate with their beauty.’ When God’s manifestation is seen, in the Hereafter.

An unpredictable state of mind

What is the underlying cause of the way that some people suddenly become infuriated or emotional and start weeping or behave in some unexpected way in the face of day-to-day events?

* Why is it essential to avoid falling prey to this disorder, which mainly damages the victim himself and is generally described as someone “having a hair trigger?”

* What must be done to free oneself from the condition?

Some people live their lives according to rules they themselves have invented. These people can easily make concessions regarding these rules when it comes to their own worldly desires. Because they have no guide who will direct the course of their lives, ensure they maintain a stable character, and whom they have a total belief. For that reason, their characters are prone to sudden variations. Among the distinguishing features of such people are, for instance, their suddenly slamming doors and acting aggressively toward people around them or shouting in a loud voice although they had been sitting perfectly calmly just five minutes ago, or suddenly bursting into tears having just said how happy they were.

The fundamental reason for this behavioral defect that all believers must scrupulously avoid, is that such people fail to frame their behavior, speech, actions, thoughts and reactions to events in the light of the moral values of the Qur’an.

The Obstacles to a Balanced Nature

Following one’s worldly desires

In the Qur’an, Almighty God reveals that people have been created with a tendency toward selfish passions. If someone permits his worldly concerns to rule him, then all his behavior will be shaped by selfish wishes. These selfish desires will prevent him displaying a stable, consisted and balanced nature. As a result of the prompting of worldly concerns he may suddenly become enraged, or emotional, or sulky, or jealous and start taking sudden decisions in the light of these emotions. His character will always come as a surprise, therefore, to those around him. There will be no consistency between one moment and another. His state of mind, thoughts, feeling, decisions and perspectives can change at any moment. Because of his unbalanced and inconsistent behavior, such a person will always inspire feeling of unease and distrust in those around him.

In the Qur’an, God warns us that worldly passions will always encourage one to evil and that Satan will oblige people to behave inconsistently, irrationally and emotionally, as dictated by their desires. He also imparts the glad tidings that people who adopt the Qur’an as their guide in the face of this, however, and who act according to the stirring of their consciences, will achieve the ideal character and enjoy superiority in both this world and the hereafter.

A believer achieves this strong and superior character by following the path shown by God. Since the Qur’an is his guide, his behavior and reactions in the face of events are always shaped according to Qur’anic moral values. How he will behave, his perspective on events and the logic he adopts will never come as a surprise to those around him. His mind, conscience, behavior and speech always reflect the stability required by Qur’anic virtue, and his nature is therefore always to be trusted.

Acting emotionally

Emotionality is not regarded as undesirable in societies oblivious to religious moral values. Indeed, it is generally believed that a certain amount of emotionality in a person’s make-up is an important attribute. According to that way of thinking, the behavior caused by emotionality is human feelings that need to be let out. For that reason, character defects stemming from emotionality, such as “touchiness, dissatisfaction, sulking, weeping, an introverted state of mind, apathy, jealousy or anger,” are encouraged by suggesting they are “emotions representing human nature.” Nothing could be more wrong, however.

Emotionality that is widespread in societies oblivious to the moral values of the Qur’an lead to people having weak characters. Since people react to events in the light of their own emotions, they tend to act irrationally. They become unable to think logically and accurately or to make sound deductions. And this leads to people being unpredictable and inflicting material and psychological damage on themselves and those around them.

However, since the Qur’an rules the whole of a believer’s life and character, he possesses the most accurate knowledge regarding the promptings of one’s passions and how to combat it. He knows that emotionality clouds one’s reason, prevents one thinking straight and seeing the truth, and also makes one weak and lacking in resistance.

The solution to an unpredictable character

Sincere devotion to God, genuine submission and knowing that everything transpires under His control and that everything is for the best prevent one falling prey to one’s emotions and behaving badly. Because of his powerful love and fear of God, the believer scrupulously avoids all forms of behavior that might result from emotionality.

Believers regulate their whole lives according to Qur’anic moral virtues. They know that avoiding the defects of personality prevalent in societies devoid of faith and exhibiting a strong character will serve as a role model for others and behave in complete awareness of that responsibility. As God reveals in the Qur’an in the words “It is the people who are safe-guarded from the avarice of their own selves who are successful” (Surat al-Hashr, 9), they strive to cleanse their desires of evil. God has revealed that in return for that effort believers will enjoy peace, blessings and happiness in this world and the hereafter:

“What is with you runs out but what is with Allah goes on for ever. Those who were steadfast will be recompensed according to the best of what they did. Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did.” (Surat An-Nahl, 96-97)

People who are prone to enormous distress, who fall prey to weeping or rage or jealousy, or who sulk in silence and become totally introverted are unaware of God’s might, that He has created all things with goodness, wisdom and justice, that He can perform whatever He wishes whenever He wishes, and that He will heed people’s prayers.

All sorrow, anger and jealousy stem from weakness of faith and errors originating from that perspective.

Thunder glorifies His praise

Three billion thunders a year… a source of energy that moves at a speed of 96,000 km per hour and releases 30,000 degrees of heat.

Have you ever thought how thunder, one of the most magnificent atmospheric incidents that Allah creates, is formed and how it is capable of releasing such a high amount of energy?

During rainfall, thunder and lightning that are made up of bright lights forming in the course of atmospheric discharge of electricity are in fact energy resources producing more electricity than thousands of power plants; besides being a climatic phenomenon. The answer to the questions of how these natural energy sources are formed and how powerful they give out light and heat is a wonder of creation revealing the Ever-Lasting Might and Glory of Our Lord.

A magnificence forming in a split second

• The energy released by a single lightning bolt is greater than the energy produced in all power plants across the entire America.
• One lightning can light a 100 watt bulb for more than 3 months.
• At the contact point of a lightning to the ground, weather is warmed up to 25.000oC. The speed of a lightning bolt is 150.000 km per second and its average thickness is 2.5-5 cm.
• An average lightning possesses 20.000 ampere of electric power. A welder uses only 250-400 ampere to weld steel.
• Lightning moves at a speed of 150.000 km per second, that is almost at half of the speed of light and it is 100.000 times faster than sound.

Light released by one lightning is greater than that of 10 million 100-watt light bulbs. That is to say; if every house in Istanbul had a light a bulb on, illumination from a single lightning bolt would be greater. Allah announces this glamorous flash of lightning as: “…The brightness of His lightning almost blinds the sight.” (Qur’an, 24:43)

How is lightning formed? Air, warmed by the sunlight rises carrying along the water evaporating inside it. When this risen air reaches 2-3 km, it comes into contact with the layers of cold air.

Ice crystals that are formed inside the clouds at the time of air rising, release static electric energy formed due to friction. This electrical energy is loaded positive (+) on top layers of the clouds and negative (-) on low layers. When the cloud is loaded enough to ionize the air; lightning is formed.

Why does it thunder? Lightning heats the air nearby up to 30.000 degrees Celsius in one millionth of a second. The air warmed up dilates. And it propagates sound waves much faster than the speed of sound; with a pressure 100 times greater than the normal atmospheric pressure. Similar to the airplanes crossing the speed of sound, this causes an explosion sound in the air. And this is named as thunder.

Why doesn’t light and sound reach the earth simultaneously? This is because the sound of thunder reaches us at the speed of sound (340 m/seconds in air); whereas the visual aspect of the lightning reaches us at the speed of light (299.793 km/seconds). This causes a time difference between the two incidents and thus results in the bolt reaching the earth before the thunder.

Difference between lightning and thunderbolt

When the difference in electric charge becomes greater between the earth and the cloud, it becomes easier for air to be pierced and from earth to the cloud; electrical discharge starts through the conductor duct formed by the pierced air. The electrical discharge from the clouds is called lightning and the electrical discharge from the earth back to the cloud is called thunderbolt or return stroke.

Lightning facts in the Holy Qur’an

Surah Ar-Ra’d is one of the chapters in the Qur’an and it means “The Thunder.” Allah announces that the thunder formed by the lightning repeats His praises: “The thunder glorifies His praise, as do the angels, out of fear of Him. …” (Qur’an, 13:13)

Lightning reminds of death

Experiences of those who survived a strike of lightning that causes the death of hundreds of people every year, remind us of death as well as revealing the helplessness of man in the Presence of Allah.

The possibility of getting struck by lightning is one in 700,000; yet one should not underestimate this possibility as well as the effects of the lightning. According to the statements made by those who have been struck by lightning, the electrical current can explode the buttons and zippers on the clothes and people can faint and fall down. Due to brain damage, people who have been treated for 1-2 months at the intensive care divisions of hospitals are having to re-learning how to walk, how to swallow, or in other words how to live again. These people have described how they felt, and say it is as if they “lived death and then were resurrected.”

In the Holy Qur’an, a very similar incident occurred in a strike of lightning Allah showed to the people of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). With a disgraceful and false courage, the Israelites demanded that the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) enable them to see Allah with their own eyes and while demanding this, they were shown the similar effect of a lightning. The following statements in the verse “So the thunder-bolt struck you dead” and “Then We brought you back to life after your death,” may be a sign for the fact that they felt resurrected after their heart stop related to the shock as well as the loss of consciousness and loss of memory they experienced. (Allah knows the best).

Here are the related verses in the Qur’an: “And when you said, ‘Moses, we will not believe in you until we see Allah with our own eyes.’ So the thunderbolt struck you dead while you were looking. Then We brought you back to life after your death, so that perhaps you would show thanks.” (Qur’an, 55-56)

Some people are honest and some are not. You live for the consent of God, but some people only seek to strike it rich; some people hunt for husbands and marriage. They so hope to find a fool to saddle on. I’m saying this only for some people with that kind of rationale, seeking an opportunity to saddle on. This is very humiliating. Marriage should be for love, mercy, compassion and for God. It should not be with a mentality like, “Let me find a fool to saddle on.” And some want to saddle on as a family and that’s even worse. Some young men are also like that, seeking for a rich girl to become a son-in-law living in his wife's parents' house for free food and all. I’ve seen such men; they are very strange. You’d pity them. They are in their pyjamas and slippers going after his parents in-law, “My dear father, my dear mother.” People despise such people all the time. They humiliate themselves for a dish of food. Even if they were rich, one would never enter into such an insulting situation. But they are like this if there is a lot of money and other interests.

Some hearts are treacherous. Some hearts are holy. Some hearts are rebellious and some hearts are blessed. Women with blessed hearts, their hearts are very beautiful and open to love. Those who are treacherous always grovel. They grovel for no reason. They always hunt for husbands and such. This is very humiliating. You are a grown- up woman, but you want to take shelter somewhere to get yourself looked after, like a cat or any other animal. You don’t have any love or respect or fear of God. All right, marriage is something nice, but it is for the good will of God as an act of worship but you are looking for a fool. This is terrible. For example, there are also young men like this, looking for rich girls and if they are rich, they stick to them like a stamp. This is wrong.

Marriage is not about becoming a burden on or to rub someone. It is also not to steal from a man as a family or it is not to say that you love a girl just to steal her money.

Being a Time Engineer

Have you ever considered the value of time?

    Have you ever thought about the passing seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years?

    The time we experience moment by moment sometimes appears to slow down. Yet after hours or days pass by, one realizes that time passes very fast.

Everyone is recently complaining about how fast time is passing by, so much so that almost everyone must have heard their friends saying things like, “We were together last week, but it seems like only yesterday!” “I washed my car just last week and how quickly it got dirty again!” So how well do we make use of this valuable time we are given that passes by so fast?

Time Passes Quickly

When we reflect a little, we can see that the time we have left in this world is diminishing rapidly. A person experiences many things between babyhood and maturity; such as school, working life and career; then one’s day-to-day activities add onto that as well. When things like tests in school, a busy work environment and responsibilities awaiting at home piles up, one finds himself totally wrapped up in those. That leads to one forgetting the real purpose of life, the reason for one’s presence in this world, in other words.

Everyone inevitably encounters reports of death while reading the paper or watching television everyday. Many people have a sudden flash of enlightenment at that moment and think about the person who has died and felt touched by this news. If the deceased was a young person, they generally start thinking that such an early death deprived the deceased of things such as a career and marriage. As a matter of fact, death can come to anyone at any moment. It makes no difference if one is a child, young or old; death can come in the form of a heart attack or a traffic accident. Yet although many people do reflect on these things, they become distracted and return to thinking about their daily activities or plans for the future, as if nothing had happened.

But have you ever asked yourself whether all the plans you have made for the future have turned out as you wished?

To be realistic, things in our lives almost never turn out as we have planned. There is always something missing or something happens that we have not been expecting at that moment.

It is of course normal to make plans for the future, but the truth we must be aware of it is that our every moment is under the control of God. Everything is already over and done with in the sight of God, and our lives are shown to us moment by moment. Almighty God imparts a very great secret to us here. That secret involves the comfort of our living in full submission to our destiny, without worrying about the future. That is because God reveals this truth in the Qur’an as follows:

It may be that you hate something when it is good for you and it may be that you love something when it is bad for you. God knows and you do not know. (Surat al-Baqara, 216)

The idea that wasting time in trivia is enjoyable is a false idea inculcated by satan. Wasting time, or ‘killing time,’ as they put it, is very common in societies that do not live by religious values. Believers, however, must spend the time given to them by God on increasing their closeness to Him at every moment, on thinking deeply and on serving Muslims and Islam.

Actually time is very important, and more valuable than gold. One must make the best use of time. Instead of watching soaps for four or five hours, a Muslim would work on increasing his general culture and knowledge, help people, cleaning up his surroundings and making himself a quality person who values beauty, art and science.

Time, every moment, was very valuable to our Prophet (saas). He carefully used every minute – and even every second – for the benefit of the community and the Ummah. That is why our Prophet (saas) was troubled by people who wasted time.

It is important to make good use of time. One of people’s problems is that they become caught up in empty talk and waste a huge amount of time on it yet that ruthlessly wastes the valuable time of this valuable life. That is very wrong,

Everything in the Life of This World Comes to an End

People, animals, flowers, fruits and other foods -even though we keep them in the fridge: Everything in this world comes to an end. Endlessness is to be found in Paradise. Nothing comes to an end there. Youth never ends. People always remain young. When you pick a fruit from a tree in Paradise, another one grows back immediately. In this world we have to wait for the right season to eat the fruit we like; there is no time problem in Paradise. You spend all your time with those you love. You can do what you like as you like at any time. You can be as beautiful as you like. There is no disease or fatigue or boredom there. There is constant beauty. The life of this world however is the exact opposite. We always run up against deficiencies in the life of this world. We are never fully satisfied. When we obtain something we really want, such as a new phone, we experience the excitement of that, but then a new model comes out before long and we then want that instead.

Everyone will spend an allotted amount of time in this world, as part of the destiny created by God. Wasted time is therefore subtracted from the limited amount of time imparted in this world, and can never be brought back.

God is the Creator of All Things and All Beauty

God wishes to reward us with Paradise and its infinite delights. Our desire for and love of Paradise increases when we compare Paradise with the life of this world. In the same way that you can conjure up images of things by closing your eyes right where you are, God will constantly bring the most delightful versions of everything into being for all time in Paradise.

While it is possible to enjoy the comfort of destiny, leaving things to their own course, without worrying for the future, wasting time in distress and worries is meaningless. Instead, we must reflect on the many blessings created for us in this world, remember the true reason for our existence and shape our lives accordingly.

Every second, every minute, every hour that passes by draws us closer to death. The limited, short time we have been given in this world will define our actual place in the Hereafter for all eternity. Consequently making the best, truest use of time is the most rational thing to do. In the Qur’an, God informs us that the life of this world is transient;

“He will say, ‘How many years did you tarry on the earth?’

They will say, ‘We tarried there for a day or part of a day. Ask those able to count!’

He will say, ‘You only tarried there for a little while if you did but know!” (Surat al-Mu’minun, 112-114)

Someone who sincerely believes in God must carefully avoid empty occupations that satan portrays as highly attractive in the life of this world. Only in that way can someone reflect deeply as is due for one with a clear mind. The Qur’an reveals that believers turn away from empty occupations:

“And those who turn away from all that is frivolous.” (Surat al-Mu’minun, 3)

Remembering Allah in times of trials

Every person has moments in life that may be called difficult. Most people, who live away from the moral values of the Qur’an, experience these moments with feelings like discomfort, sadness and boredom. In such environments, they display traits of aggressiveness, tension and a disputatious attitude. The reason for these reactions is that they do not have faith in Allah and the perfection of the destiny He created. The reasons, which prevent these people seeing the goodness behind these events, can be summed up as follows:

Some people think that most of their lives develop as a result of coincidences in a flow. Everything from big incidents like having cancer or losing a close one in a traffic accident, to the food he eats or the clothes he wears are special events preordained in that person’s destiny. Allah creates all these incidents down to the finest detail for that person’s trial.

A person is subject to a continuous trial throughout his life; nothing happens by coincidence. If a person cannot grasp this fact and thinks that events take place independent of Allah, then he is greatly mistaken. This is because all things that happen through the course of life are a test Allah created especially for this person, and this person is held responsible for his reactions and behaviors.

Allah has infinite power and He is very merciful (Al-Halim) to His servants; He does not give His servants a trial that is beyond their power. This is a promise made by Allah: “We do not impose on any self any more than it can stand. With Us there is a Book which speaks the truth. They will not be wronged.” (Qur’an, 23:62)

Every difficult trial, diseases, accidents, financial and spiritual troubles a person may face in the life of this world are trials within the boundaries that he can handle.

A person may think that he has no way out, everything is over or that this is a difficulty he cannot overcome. He may display a rebellious attitude by forgetting that there may be a goodness in that incident. But all of these are actually empty illusions given by satan. A believer should never fall into despair, as Allah commands us, and should deeply think about every situation he faces.

“Or did you imagine that you were going to enter the Garden without Allah knowing those among you who had struggled and knowing the steadfast?” (Qur’an, 4:142)

People make many plans for their future, the next day or an hour from now. These plans are sometimes realized according to plan, but sometimes they are hindered due to unexpected developments. People who are astray from the moral values of religion think that these disruptions happen by coincidence. Whether or not a plan is carried out or not, all incidents a person faces are in that person’s destiny and are events preordained by Allah. “He directs the whole affair from heaven to earth...” (Qur’an, 32:5) “We have created all things in due measure.” (Qur’an, 54:49)

A person may think that he lives what he plans, but actually he only lives the destiny Allah creates for him. Not even a single moment is outside destiny.

A person who could not understand faith would think that all incidents are a result of random developments and coincidences. When something bad happens to him because of that, he would name such things with meaningless words like “luck.”

A person is a being limited to time and place. Everything that happens in a person’s life is created by Allah Who is not bound by time and place and Who has “infinite wisdom.”

“Nothing occurs, either in the earth or in yourselves, without its being in a Book before We make it happen. That is something easy for Allah.”(Qur’an, 57:22)

People who have sincere faith live their lives knowing that everything in their lives is subject to the destiny Allah creates and they are all created for a reason. As a result of this they always reach goodness.

“Say: ‘Nothing can happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is Our Master. It is in Allah that the faithful should put their trust.’”(Qur’an, 9:51)

It is revealed to us in the Qur’an that satan is thankless and rebellious. We understand from the verses that he will approach people from the right, left, front and back and try everything to divert people from the true path. One of the most important methods satan uses to reach this evil goal is the prevent people from seeing the best in everything that happens, and thus make them rebellious and unthankful towards Allah. Satan tries whisper suggestions into people’s hearts by finding their sensitive areas.

Satan influences people in two ways to prevent the good. The first is that he does everything he can to prevent good deeds and tries to guide people to cling to the life of this world. The second, he tries to prevent people from seeing the good and wisdom behind incidents.

However, Allah has granted people countless blessings. He shows His kindness to people with blessings from birth till death. Therefore believers take Allah as a friend and guide, trust and submit to Allah even if they do not understand the wisdom of something they are faced with and endure in knowing that a good result will surely come out of it. As revealed in the verse “...It may be that you hate something when it is good for you and it may be that you love something when it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know. (Qur’an, 2: 216)

Those who trust Allah never lose hope

One of the important characteristics of a Muslim is that he remains in a positive state of mind, whatever the circumstances. He tries for the best and look for wisdom.

A Muslim is never in despair, not even in most difficult moments. That is because they believe that Allah is the Creator of all things; that He has the power to create whatever He wants by saying it to “Be!”

The faithful knows that any trying times, he finds himself in, are a God-sent test. He takes things in his stride, recalling what Allah Almighty has advised him: “...it may be that you hate something when it is good for you and it may be that you love something when it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know.” (Qur’an, 2:216)

Everything turns positive for a Muslim with such a depth of soul. Whether it be trouble or difficulty, it is Allah Who bestows them on that person. He is believers’ Helper and Guardian. Any thing and everything that Allah Almighty has created is for the best and which contains much wisdom.

Allah teaches the souls of those believers who have a sincere and unsullied belief in Him throughout the life of this world to be worthy of Paradise.

Every stage in this instruction is, by Allah’s will, a means whereby Muslims can take another step toward Paradise. Having faith does not mean making no mistakes. Allah creates human beings to be fallible, flawed and weak.

Muslims make mistakes the same way as everyone else. But the difference between them and those people who base themselves on the criteria of the society of the ignorant is that when Muslims realize the correct course of action by way of their consciences, or even if they do not but are reminded of it by others, they do not deliberately insist on continuing with their errors.

It is immediate repentance and sheltering in Allah and an intention not to repeat one’s error but to learn from one’s mistakes. This is a major indicator of a Muslim’s sincerity. Allah tells us how Muslims should behave in the face of their own mistakes: “Those who, when they act indecently or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their bad actions (and who can forgive bad actions except Allah?) and do not knowingly persist in what they were doing.” (Qur’an, 3:135)

Muslims are valuable entities bearing the Spirit of Allah. According to the Qur’an, it is improper for such people to exaggerate their mistakes and regard themselves as worthless because of them. It is Allah Who creates mistakes and causes people to commit them in destiny.

Even before a person is born it is already ordained in destiny at what time, on what date and where they will commit that error. Even if a person were to experience that moment a thousand times over they would still make the same mistake at the same time, on the same date and in the same place.

It is therefore wrong for people to lack self-confidence because of errors they have committed. Muslims never, under any circumstances, pay any heed to the approval of other people. They never become preoccupied with such doubts as “I wonder what people will say? What will they think of me? Will they love me any less? Will their trust in me be damaged?” Muslims seek to earn Allah’s approval alone.

In the event of an error or imperfection, they beg Allah to forgive them and hope that He will forgive their sins. They know that He is infinitely forgiving. What matters is whether or not He approves of that person. The Prophet Abraham’s (peace be upon him) prayer, “[It is] He Who I sincerely hope will forgive my mistakes on the Day of Reckoning...” (Qur’an, 42:82), is an excellent model on this subject.

Since Muslims have faith and trust in and rely on Allah, they always regard themselves as virtuous and valuable. They always have respect for themselves.

They always remember Allah’s verse “Do not give up and do not be downhearted. You shall be uppermost if you are believers” (Qur’an, 3:139), which represents the way they look at themselves. Muslims want to be loved and trusted by other Muslims.

But they also know it is Allah Who will create that love and bestow that feeling of trust in other believers’ hearts. Muslims’ errors are instrumental in strengthening the love felt for those people. That is because the important thing is not the mistake, but the behavior in the face of it of the person committing it. Since Muslims fear Allah, they have uneasy consciences when they make an error. They immediately think as they are shown in the Qur’an and thus see the truth.

They then feel regret for their mistakes and strive to make up for their mistake and to improve their moral values by seeking shelter in Allah. The more errors people commit, the more they are able to realize how weak they are.

They attain a deeper understanding of how much they need Allah. This mindset increases a person’s submission to Allah and humility. And Allah creates feelings of sympathy and affection for that person in the hearts of other believers.

The responsibility incumbent upon believers is to ensure that the moral values of the Qur’an rule their lives as much as possible and to seek the greatest amount of Allah’s approval in all they do at every moment of their lives.

It is impossible, according to the moral values of the Qur’an, for anyone harboring such an intent and who lives for Allah in a determined and fixed manner, not to be loved or trusted. Faith requires that Muslims know this and that other Muslims will love them because of that faith.

It also requires that they have trust that only Allah can create that love in others’ hearts. As Allah tells us in another verse from the Qur’an: “As for those who believe and do right actions, the All-Merciful will bestow His love on them.” (Qur’an, 19:96)

Adnan Oktar’s answer to the question, ‘Are fun and music permissible if one lives by the faith?’

ADNAN OKTAR: ‘How is the faith compatible with fun and music?’ one viewer asks. He has failed to realize that in the Qur’an life is meant to be full of joy, and that this world should be like paradise. They regard religion as meaning pain, suffering and misery. They believe that if someone is devout he should have a miserable time. All the beauties of life are part of the faith – music, joy, fun, love and everything. Religion encapsulates all of life and makes them all permissible. There are very few things that are illegitimate and forbidden. But there is no end to things that are lawful. In their eyes, music is sinful, fun is sinful and everything is sinful.

- Because they fail to realize that God is everywhere. They imagine there can be no God in a place where there is music and dancing, may He forbid. God enfolds all places.

ADNAN OKTAR: They believe one cannot think of God while one is having fun. They believe one would have to forget God if one goes to a wedding or a disco. Or that one will forget God if one listens to the radio. They think it is impossible to speak of Allah under those circumstances. They believe one will forget God if one goes dancing and has fun. That is very, very wrong.

- The whole problem is that they are suffering and complaining all the time. But they are also used to it, so they keep on doing it.

- God creates a feeling of joy every day, including when one is dancing or listening to music.

ADNAN OKTAR: They do not believe it. They regard it as incompatible with Islam for a woman to dress well. They believe a woman should have a wretched time and suffer.

- God tells the polytheists, “Let them laugh little and weep much, in repayment for what they have earned.”.

ADNAN OKTAR: All they want is tears and weeping. God says, “Let them laugh little and weep much.” And they are always saying, ‘Let us weep and shed tears.’

Özgecan Aslan was martyred defending her honor and virtue. Because that was jihad, active jihad.

The culture of mourning is so widespread in Turkey! They always want to be mourning. If we let them, they would mourn day and night for years on end, for anything.

- They do nothing to find a solution. They just mourn.

AN-NUR - The Light

Allah is the Light of the heavens and Earth. The metaphor of His Light is that of a niche in which is a lamp, the lamp inside a glass, the glass like a brilliant star, lit from a blessed tree, an olive, neither of the east nor of the west, its oil all but giving off light even if no fire touches it. Light upon Light. Allah guides to His Light whoever He wills, makes metaphors for mankind, and has knowledge of all things. In houses that Allah has permitted to be built and in which His name is remembered, there are men who proclaim His glory morning and evening. ( Surat an-Nur, 24:35-36)

Allah, the Light of the heavens and Earth, manifests this attribute upon people. As a blessing, He illuminates His servants who believe in Him, recognize and appreciate His greatness, turn to Islam (the only just religion), and live by its morality:

Is he whose breast is opened to Islam, and who is therefore illuminated by his Lord…? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah! Such people are clearly misguided. ( Surat az-Zumar, 39:22)

For the unbelievers, however, there is not a single source of “illumination.” Moreover, they cannot find a way out of the darkness in which they exist. Allah describes this darkness in the following terms:

Or they are like the darkness of a fathomless sea that is covered by waves above, which are waves above which are clouds, layers of darkness, one upon the other. If he puts out his hand, he can scarcely see it. Those to whom Allah gives no light, they have no light. ( Surat an-Nur, 24:40)

While Allah leaves unbelievers in this darkness, He guides His faithful servants to the light. The following verse reveals that these two groups are mirror opposites and believers are absolutely superior, for:

Is someone who was dead and whom We brought to life, supplying him with a light by which to walk among people, the same as someone who is in utter darkness, unable to emerge from it? That is how what they were doing is made to seem attractive to the unbelievers. ( Surat al-An‘am, 6:122)

Allah sends down warnings to believers in order to guide them to the light. His Messengers and the just Books that they bring are all sources of “light.” Those who comply with the divine message attain the true path and are illuminated. The Qur'an proclaims:

O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, a bringer of good news, a warner, a caller to Allah by His permission, and a light-giving lamp. ( Surat al-Ahzab, 33:45-46)

He sends down Clear Signs to His servant to bring you out of the darkness to the light. Allah is All-Gentle with you, Most Merciful. ( Surat al-Hadid, 57:9)

O People of the Book! Our Messenger has come to you, making clear to you much of the Book that you have kept concealed, and passing over a lot. A Light has come to you from Allah, and a Clear Book. By it, Allah guides those who follow what pleases Him to the ways of peace. He will bring them from the darkness to the light by His permission, and guide them to a straight path. ( Surat al-Ma'ida, 5:15-16)

Allah's true servants will live happily until they die, and will be recognized by their light. Unbelievers, on the other hand, will remain in infinite darkness in the Hereafter as well, and will ask believers for some of their light. As the Qur'an states:

On the Day you see the men and women of the believers, with their light streaming out in front of them, and to their right: “Good news for you today of gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, forever. That is the Great Victory.” That Day, the men and women of the hypocrites will say to those who believe: “Wait for us so that we can borrow some of your light.” They will be told: “Go back and look for light!” And a wall will be erected between them with a gate in it, on the inside of which there will be mercy but before whose exterior lies punishment. ( Surat al-Hadid, 57:12-13)

Allah is the Protector of those who believe. He brings them out of the darkness and into the light. But those who are unbelievers have false deities as protectors. They take them from the light into the darkness. Those are the Companions of the Fire, remaining in it timelessly, forever. ( Surat al-Baqara, 2:257)

He calls down blessing upon you, as do His angels, to bring you out of the darkness and into the light. He is Most Merciful to the believers. ( Surat al-Ahzab, 33:43)

And Earth will shine with the Pure Light of its Lord, the Book will be put in place, the Prophets and witnesses will be brought, and it will be decided between them with the truth. They will not be wronged. ( Surat az-Zumar, 39:69)

Those who believe in Allah and His Messengers—such people are the truly sincere—and the martyrs who are with their Lord will receive their wages and their light. But those who are unbelievers and deny Our Signs will be Companions of the Blazing Fire. ( Surat al-Hadid, 57:19)

O You who believe! Have fear [and awareness] of Allah and faith in His Messenger. He will give you a double portion of His mercy, grant you a Light by which to walk, and forgive you. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. ( Surat al-Hadid, 57:28)

Prophet Muhammad (saas) advises believers to say the following in their prayers:

“Allahumma: Put light in my heart, light in my tongue, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light beneath me, light in front of me, and light behind me. Put light in my soul, and give me great light.” (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
