ADNAN OKTAR: "My Master Mohammad Adnan, why does religion exist? An atheist friend of mine asked me this question and even though I've made him the necessary explanations, he was not convinced. I would very much appreciate if I could hear the answer to this question from you. Have a good evening."
We understand religion in our nature anyway, we know it. For instance we do know that Allah exists, that a Creator exists, we know many things in our nature. But we wouldn't know the details. For us to know these details, Allah Who created this world informs us how to use this world with a writing He sent along with it. And we call that "religion". I mean He reveals it to us with a Book and we call that a religion. Or else we wouldn't know how this world should be used. May Allah forbid, not wishing to make a comparison, for instance we buy a drug but we do not know how to use it. There is a prospectus inside the package, we open it up and look at it; "this drug is used like this, in this dosage and you'd have to do this and that. If you use it this way you will be healed," it writes. Otherwise we would be poisoned and die. We will be healed when we do exactly as we are told.
And the Qur'an explains us exactly how this world should be used. Allah says; "If you behave like this you would be devastated, poisoned and die." "But if you behave like this, it would be exactly as is due and you would be very happy, very healthy and beautiful. And I will give you a beautiful reward," says Almighty Allah. It is not possible for us to know it on our own.
But for instance, for the bee, Allah reveals that information to the bee, it is ready for it. For instance [the bee is taught] how to look after its offspring, how to clean the hive, how to kill an intruder, how to understand the quality of the honey, how to know about its viscosity, in which angle the honey combs will be constructed inside the hive, how would the honey combs be in an hexagonal shape, how will the angles of the corners be arranged inside that comb.. Allah puts hundreds, thousands of revealed information, their sharia, inside that tiny brain. Bees are all very single-hearted, very complaisant and hardworking. Allah tells them "be hardworking" so they become hardworking. Allah tells them "be clean." Allah tells them "you will be cleaned every day." So it wipes its face with its paws, it wipes its arms; it wipes its body all over, its legs and all over. It gets itself cleaned day and night. But we cannot know this, Allah teaches us to do that. Allah teaches that through religion to us, He teaches us by sending us a Book. Almighty Allah selects a man from among us; He selects a blessed Prophet and teaches him through revelations. And that becomes a Book. Allah creates the Qur'an everywhere, at our houses and everywhere just like this. It is all in this Book and we live at ease when we abide by the information revealed in it. And when we do not abide by it, as you see in the Southeast; look at the horrible disaster that takes place. What is the reason behind the grief in Syria? It's all because the Qur'an is not abided by. What is the reason behind the happenings in Libya? The same. What is the reason in Afghanistan? The same. What is the reason behind the economic collapse in America? The same. The reason behind the devastation of Greece? The same. The reason behind the suicides that take place all over the world is the same. When the Qur'an is not followed the world becomes devastated, it becomes scorched and ruined. I mean you should think about it as a prospectus teaching us how to use the drug, how to use this world. May Allah forbid, without wishing it to be a comparison, I just say this for you to understand insha'Allah.
