Faith, Unity, Discipline
The scroll supporting the shield in the state emblem of Pakistan contains Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's motto in Urdu, which reads from right to left: (ایمان، اتحاد، نظم) "Īmān, Ittihād, Nazm" translated as "Faith, Unity, Discipline" and were intended as the guiding principles for Pakistan.
After death of Muhammad Ali Jinnah people of Pakistan forgot motto Faith, Unity, Discipline of their leader. Now “Faith” has been replaced with bigotry and fanaticism, “unity” with sectarian, ethnic and religious intolerance, and “discipline” with indulgence and lack of quality.
Why the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah gave this motto to nation? This motto could help nation of Pakistan in time of trials and tribulations but we used it as slogan only. We never tried to reach to the secret of this motto but always argued whether Quaid said “Faith, Unity, Discipline” or “Unity, Faith, Discipline”, and Quaid is secular or non-secular. In above picture this motto is written on side of Islamabad highway. Different governments swapped position of words “Faith“ and “Unity” many times at that place but never tried to know meaning of these words.
Three Great Duties
The secrete in these three words is that they are compatible with three great duties of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (as) mentioned by great Islamic scholar Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (ra) and survival of Pakistan in only in system of Imam Mahdi (as). Quaid-i-Azam may have given us these three words to recognize system of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (as) in time of trials and tribulations.
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi has said “Hazrat Mahdi (as) will have three great duties;” “it is Hazrat Mahdi (as) who will perform these three duties together and across the world”. In his works Bediuzzaman has stated that “the performance of these three duties together is one of the main signs in the recognition of Hazrat Mahdi (as)”.
Faith: The first of these duties is “intellectual struggle against materialist, Darwinist and atheist philosophies and the complete silencing of them intellectually.” i.e. correcting faith of people.
Unity: The second is, “the establishment of the Islamic Union by assuming the leadership of the Islamic world” i.e. unity among Muslim countries by establishing Islamic Union.
Discipline: The third is “the restoration of the moral values of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas) and causing these to rule across the world.” i.e. improving discipline and quality of life by restoring moral values of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas). Discipline always comes with adopting moral values and laws.
Bediuzzaman also said that these three duties had not been discharged together in his own time and that only Hazrat Mahdi (as) can do that:
These THREE QUALITIES BEING PRESENT AT ONE TIME IN ONE PERSON OR COMMUNITY, AND THEIR BEING PERFECT AND NOT IMPAIRING ONE ANOTHER SEEMS VERY REMOTE, OR EVEN IMPOSSIBLE. In the End Times, THEY CAN ONLY COME TOGETHER IN THE GREAT MAHDI AND THE COLLECTIVE PERSONALITY OF HIS COMMUNITY, WHO REPRESENT THE LUMINOUS COMMUNITY OF THE AHL AL-BAYT [the line of the Prophet (saas)].

....a guide, a kind of Mahdi and reformer comes in every century, BUT IN TERMS OF DISCHARGING EACH OF THESE THREE DUTIES, NONE HAVE RECEIVED THE TITLE OF THE GREAT MAHDI OF THE END TIMES.

Solution to end Trials and Tribulations
Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah not only gave “Faith, Unity, Discipline” but also he followed these words. He was firm believer and always talked about unity. He was man of principle and never broke any law of British Empire. He never did civil disobedience and street march to blackmail government. His life was full of discipline and quality.
Today Pakistani nation is in many trials and tribulations as we never implemented “Faith, Unity, Discipline” in our lives. Only system of Mahdi can survive us and Pakistan is created only for system of Mahdi.
Faith:
In 1947 Pakistan was created with faith on Allah almighty but today faith has been replaced by bigotry and fanaticism. Due to darwinist education, people adopted materialistic philosophies like socialism and communism in both East and West Pakistan which increased hatred.
Till 1971 hatred and lack trust were widely separated between political leaders and workers of East and West Pakistan. Bigotry of political leaders broke Pakistan and killed many innocents. Both sides didn’t like their pride to be broken and they take the side of the socialism and communism materialistic philosophies which created hatred between people. They forgot faith in religion which provides love, compassion, patience and humbleness.

Unity:
Pakistan is created after a combined effort of Indian Muslims living in different part of India. They were different with each other by sects and languages but their objective was same. In short period of time they created an independent country for Indian Muslims. Many Christians also supported Pakistan Movment.
After creation of Pakistan nation did combined effort to resolve initial difficulties and establishing new country but this unity disintegrated and it is replaced with sectarian, ethnic and religious intolerance. From 1947 to the 1970, the governments of Pakistan were largely secular in policy and judgment and there were no major sectarian and ethnic problems. During socialist government, in 1973 five-year military conflict in Baluchistan (the largest province of Pakistan) has been started and in 1974 Anti-Ahmadiyya riots were occurred. After invation of Afghanistan by USSR in 1979, Pakistan was also affacted by evils of communism in form of radicalism and terrorism in 80's which disintegrated the unity. Corrupt governments in 90's weaken economy. After 9/11 war on terror increased the radicalism and terrorism beyond limits. Since the year 2000, over 2000 Shia Hazara community members including many women and children have been killed or wounded in attacks and Faisalabad and Gojra riots have been occurred against Christians.
Suicide attacks began occurring in Pakistan from 2002 onward. From 2002 to 2006, Pakistan experienced 21 suicide attacks and in the year 2007 alone this figure jumped up to 54. Within next four years figure of suicide attacks is increased to 273. Not only mosques of Shia and Sunni but also shrine of Sufis and Churches of Christians are targeted. Since March 2005, 209 people have been killed and 560 injured in 29 different terrorist attacks targeting shrines devoted to Sufi saints in Pakistan. These attacks are generally attributed to banned militant organizations. In March 2013, Muslims attacked a Christian neighborhood in Lahore, where more than 100 houses were burned after a Christian was alleged to have made blasphemous remarks. On September 2013, 75 Christians were killed in a suicide attack at the historic All Saints Church in the regional capital, Peshawar.

Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah believed that independence could only be achieved through constitutional means. He left the Congress party in 1920, while opposing civil disobedience movement of Congress. He never did any protest and broke any law to blakemail government. Discipline always come by following laws (constitution) and moral values. After death of Jinnah nation was unable to make any constitution for a long period. Till today Pakistani law is based upon the legal system of British India.
Pakistani nation is a talented nation, but without discipline all the talent we possess is ineffectual. We can see lack of displine in every field of life. All institutions have been effected by indiscipline as they lefted enfocing laws and regulations. It decreased the quality of life. Road accidents are highy in Pakistan due to lack of discipline. 12,000 people lose their lives annually to road accidents.
Challenging the writ of the government, creating chaos, disorder, plundering public and private property during protest rallies demonstrates lack of discipline. It is not way of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saas) and his companions (ra). Discipline can be improved by following and establishing moral values and laws of Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saas). It will improve quality of life and make our talent more effective.
